My latest addiction.

Well, this weekend was a write off. I’ve been into the Strongbow a little too much lately and spent most of the weekend recovering from Friday night. I was supposed to go to a party and hang out with some friends, but ended up on the couch with a PS2 controller in my hands. It was nice to get in some good gaming time. I have now reached the 20 hour mark on Star Ocean till the End of Time and I still haven’t finished the first disc! It is an RPG from Square Enix and I’m a sucker for their games (especially the Final Fantasy Series. FF7 is still my favourite!).

Nothing beats a true pint of Strongbow cider.

Last night we decided to go to a little place called the Irish Heather. It’s a quaint little pub in Gastown. It’s very old and makes you feel like you’re in the UK, not that I’ve ever been there to know what it’s like, but this is how I imagine their pubs would be. An old room with a bunch of old wooden tables and chairs with people sitting around and drinking. I’m not a huge beer drinker and I wasn’t in the mood for wine and I noticed something called Strongbow on their menu so I thought I would give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised! They brought it out in a HUGE glass, which Clint tells me is a TRUE pint. It was the best cider I’ve ever had! It was light and really refreshing and not sweet at all. I could have downed the entire glass but due to my empty stomach I refrained from doing so. If you have a chance to try this beverage I highly recommend you do. It is now my new drink of choice!

Every year Vancouver has an event called “Dine Out”. It’s usually at the beginning of the year and various restaurants around town will participate and make a special menu for this event. You can go out and dine for a relatively reasonable price at places that are fairly pricey and fancy and included in that price is a 3 course meal. This is for all the Brit pop fans out there. One of my all time favourite albums is the very first Suede album ever released in 1993. The main reason I liked them was due to Bernard Butler’s guitar playing and song writing. I know he stayed on until Dog Man Star was released and then shortly after left Suede and worked on his own solo stuff. (You can read all this on his website here…) I stopped listening to Suede at that point and I enjoyed the stuff Bernard put out on his own but I still love the fist Suede album. Then I stumbled upon a bit of news the other day that Bernard and Brett Anderson (the lead singer from Suede) are back together and are going to give it another go under the new name “the Tears”. I can’t wait to hear it as I think they were a fabulous song writing duo. If you want to know more check out this article.Their new album is due out in Spring this year! I can’t wait!

Everyone should see this movie!

Clint and I went and saw the Life Aquatic Friday night. I have to say that I’m very disappointed with the reviews I’ve seen. I enjoyed this movie a lot and would go so far as to say it’s now one of my all time favourites! The characters were really interesting and had great chemistry. Even though the story is a bit tragic… it is really light and funny at the same time! Who knew that could be done?! It’s worth watching and the soundtrack was really nicely done!

Today Clint and I went down to 4th Ave in Kits. I won a $100 gift certificate to the Board Room (a snowboarding shop) from an EA event we went to a while back and I thought I should redeem it before I lost it or completely forgot about it. I tried on a couple cute hoodies and tried not to cry when I looked at all the wicked snowboarding jackets, because they are all around $300 and I can’t afford that right now even with the gift certificate. So we went up stairs to see the shoes and I saw these babies sitting there! Light blue suede shoes with hot pink and navy blue accents… how could I resist? And they were only $109… so there you have it… don’t you step on my blue suede shoes! ^__^

Jeekers & Cobol caught snuggling on the couch.

I came home the other day to witness this little scene happening on my couch. I am completely shocked! These two never get this close unless it’s during a fight with lots of hissing and growling and fur flying. Maybe they are finally accepting the fact that they are stuck with each other. This makes me happy.

I used to tutor english a couple of years ago to 2 Korean kids. It was really fun and I enjoyed it a lot. I taught them all kinds of slang and bad words and we would laugh the whole time and then play video games. That’s when I actually started thinking about idioms and I have to say my FAVOURITE one would be:

Three sheets to the wind.

If you don’t know, it’s what someone says to describe someone who’s acting crazy or out of control. I never really understood where this one came from, but whenever someone would say it I would always picture someone running crazily through a field with 3 bed sheets flying in the wind… and naturally I would crack up laughing. Today I learned where this idiom actually comes from.
